This year’s Camden Conference topic is “Democracy Under Threat: A Global Perspective”. In collaboration with The Camden Conference, we are excited to share with you two films this month that examine democracy from very different perspectives. The first of the two, Good Night, and Good Luck, is a must-watch film that powerfully depicts the courage of journalist Edward R. Murrow in the face of political oppression during the McCarthy era. Directed by George Clooney, this acclaimed drama received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor for David Strathairn, Best Picture, and Best Director for Clooney. By showcasing the impact of a free press on democracy, the film raises critical questions about media ethics that are still relevant today.
