Welcome to the summer of 1975 in the island town of Amity where the sun always shines, the beaches are packed, and the fish are…biting. Steven Spielberg’s scary action-adventure film is considered the first ever “Summer Blockbuster” and it is not hard to understand why. The film’s script adapts Peter Benchley’s book to the screen brilliantly while Spielberg’s direction creates tension during even the most picturesque summer scenes.
Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss each turn in a perfect performance as three men thrown together to save the town by catching a fish. Warning: though this film is only rated PG, it is not for the faint of heart.
