As the sun sets on our Summer of Blockbusters, we turn to a genre built on sunsets: the Western. Specifically, John Sturges’s 1960 remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai which blasted its way onto movie screens with a star-studded cast. Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Eli Wallach, and more. The players in this drama pits seven brave (or foolish) gunslingers against a small army of bandits as they battle over the fate of a farming village. If you watch only one western this year, this is it!
