Based on Harper Lee’s book that has itself been challenged or banned frequently since it was first published, this film stands as a nearly-perfect cinematic adaptation of the original work. Gregory Peck turns in an Academy-Award-winning performance in this film, one that is not to be missed. Harper Lee wrote of his interpretation of Atticus Finch: “When he played Atticus Finch, he had played himself, and time has told all of us something more: when he played himself, he touched the world.”
Immediately following the movie, stay for a discussion of this great work of cinema.
