Join our long running book club, the Readers’ Circle, for our spring semester of reads.
This Spring enjoy and discuss Nautical Reads with us! Each tale takes place out on the open ocean. For a change of pace we will be reading from a broad selection of genres: non-fiction, magical realism, afrofuturism, and a tried and true classic! Discussions are held on the last Thursday of each month at 7 pm. Copies of each title are available at the library. Let us know if you need help finding a copy.
April’s title is The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway From the catalog record, “It is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal: a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Using the simple, powerful language of a fable, Hemingway takes the timeless themes of courage in the face of defeat and personal triumph won from loss and transforms them into a magnificent twentieth-century classic.”
