Worm Composting for Beginners

August 10 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Join us for an introductory 1.5-hour long workshop about vermiculture.

Learn what worm composting is, and how it is different from regular composting. Why do it?  What are the benefits? What are the main things to consider before trying? What is important for worms to thrive? What are the main problems encountered and how to avoid (or correct if necessary)?

Presenter Jock Robie is a retired chemical engineer and environmental educator based in Gorham, Maine. He is best known as the founder of Mainely Worm Bins, an outreach initiative dedicated to promoting vermicomposting (composting food scraps using worms) to reduce landfill waste. Through his organization, Robie acts as a community mentor, educator, and advocate for sustainable living.

This event is free and open to all.
