Graphic Novel Book Club

posted on - August 30, 2023

Do you love graphic novels?? MML now has two graphic novel clubs! One for ages 8-12 and another for anyone 13 or older. Interested? Seating is limited so be sure to email iburns@yarmouthlibrary.org to reserve your spot today!

Graphic Novel Club (Ages 8 – 12) @ 4 pm

The Graphic Novel Club is for ages 8-12 and meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 4pm. Attendees can bring a new graphic novel or an old favorite! Together we will have a guided discussion about how the graphic novel they read fits the month’s theme. This is a great way to dig deeper into how graphic novels tell stories and get great recommendations for future reads!

February 13th – Humor (examples: My Aunt Is A Monster, Bug Boys, Dog Man, First Cat in Space, Big Nate, etc.)

March 12th – Magic (examples: 5 Worlds, Aster and the Accidental Magic, The Tea Dragon Society, Garlic & the Vampire, Hilda and the Troll, etc. )

April 9th – Retellings (examples: Anne of Green Gables, Jo: An Adaptation of Little Women,  Avatar: The Last Air Bender, Warriors, The Witches, etc.)

Email iburns@yarmouthlibrary.org to reserve your spot!

Teen Graphic Novel Club (Ages 13+) @ 5 pm

The 13+ graphic novel club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 5pm to discuss YA/Teen graphic novels. This is a less structured discussion group meant for recommending graphic novels, discussing art, and socializing! We provide the snacks and space, and you show the teen librarian your new favorite graphic novels!

Keep in mind, we will be discussing Young Adult graphic novels, so be mindful that some of the topics discussed may not be appropriate for everyone.

Email iburns@yarmouthlibrary.org to reserve your spot!
