Read ME is a statewide summer reading experience presented by the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine State Library. Each year a well-known Maine author recommends two titles by lesser-known Maine authors to be featured in libraries across Maine. This year, Merrill Memorial Libraries is among the participating libraries, and the two books are Mill Town by Kerri Arsenault (non-fiction) and Mainely Power by Matt Cost (fiction). The titles were chosen by Gerry Boyle. MML will have multiple copies of these books available for patrons who would like to read it. Readers are encouraged to attend discussions and author talks wherever they take place, whether or not MML hosts any.
The program will kick off on Maine Public Broadcasting’s Maine Calling call-in radio show, Friday, June 4, 11am. There will be author talks with Kerri Arsenault (July 15) and Matt Cost (August 19), but registration information is not available yet.
