Poetry Reading: Basketball, Blazes and Bots

April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Three local poets visit us at the library to read and present their poetry.

John Reinhart

A time traveling arsonist, John Reinhart writes with ashes by candlelight. The recipient of the Horror Writers Association Dark Poetry Scholarship and a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association, he is the author of nine collections of poetry ranging from heartfelt to heart wrenching to robots in space with no hearts. Find out what he is up to at http://home.hampshire.edu/~jcr00/reinhart.html

Jefferson Navicky

Jefferson Navicky is the author of four books, most recently the novel-in-prose-poems, Head of Island Beautification for the Rural Outlands (2023), as well as Antique Densities: Modern Parables & Other Experiments in Short Prose (2021), which won the 2022 Maine Literary Award for Poetry. He is the archivist for the Maine Women Writers Collection.

David Sloan

David Sloan’s debut poetry collection—The Irresistible In-Between—was published by Deerbrook Editions in 2013.  A Rising and Other Poems, (Deerbrook), launched in the spring of 2020, with a third collection, Earth School, scheduled to appear this spring.   He is a two-time recipient of Maine Literary Awards, the Betsy Sholl Award, the inaugural Maine Poets Society Prize and the New Millennium Writings Award for Poetry. After teaching for nearly 50 years, most recently at Maine Coast Waldorf High School in Freeport, he is now semi-retired, content to focus on the joys of more regular writing, grandparenting, gardening, cycling and pickleball!
