Graphic Novel Book Club
Do you love graphic novels?? MML now has two graphic novel clubs! One for ages 9-13 and another for anyone 14 or older.
Ages 9 – 13 @ 4 pm
The graphic novel club for ages 9-13 will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 4pm and we will discuss graphic novels that fit the theme of the month (see below). Attendees are free to read a new graphic novel or one of their favorites! Together we will have a guided discussion of how the graphic novels fit the month’s theme. This is a great way to learn about new graphic novels and meet people with similar interests!
October 10th – Supernatural (examples: Snapdragon, Mooncakes, Invisible Emy, The Okay witch, Anya’s Witch, Tidesong, Garlic & vampire, etc.)
November 14th – History (examples: History Smashers, Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales, White bird, When Stars Are Scattered, The Legend of Auntie Po, etc.)
December 12th – Family (examples: Pashmina, Bad sister, Twins, Kyle’s little sister, Measuring up, Sisters)
Ages 14+ @ 5 pm
The 14+ graphic novel club will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 5pm and we will all discuss the same graphic novel (see below). Together we will have a guided discussion of the graphic novel and talk about everything from the story to the art style! Copies can be acquired through Minerva! Remember to order the book at least 2 weeks before the group meeting to give yourself enough time to read it before the discussion. We will be discussing Young Adult graphic novels, so be mindful that some of the topics discussed may not be appropriate for everyone.
October 10th – Baba Yaga’s Assistant by Marika McCoola
November 14th – They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
December 12th – Are You Listening? By Tillie Walden
