Get a Library Card

How Do I Get a Card?

All Yarmouth residents, property taxpayers, and employees of the Town of Yarmouth are eligible for a free library card. Proper identification is required. Library staff will need to see a photo ID that contains your name and address. If your ID doesn’t have your current address on it, an official item bearing your address will also be needed. Examples of acceptable documents are: driver’s license, passport, car registration, rental agreement, or piece of US mail. If you don’t live in town, but are an employee of the Town of Yarmouth, a separate document to associate you with the Town will also be required (like a recent pay stub). Cardholders are responsible for all items checked out on their cards.

To be issued a card you can visit the library or fill out this form online:

RESIDENT LIBRARY CARD FORM

If using the online form, our Circulation Manager will review the application and contact you with any questions we might have. you can then come to the Library with proof of address and pick up your new card.

Don’t live in town?

Merrill Memorial Library is a member of the Minerva Shared Borrowing Group. That means you can bring your home library card from one of the local member libraries and use it for walk in borrowing at Merrill. A list of participating libraries can be found here.

You must present a current Library card with no restrictions such as late fees on your card to be able to use it for walk in borrowing.

You may also purchase a Non-Resident Library card with us by paying an annual fee of $40 per household.

Non-resident card applications must also be verified with a photo ID and proof of address.

To apply for a Non-Resident card you can visit us in person, or fill out this form online:

NON-RESIDENT LIBRARY CARD FORM

If using the online form, once we have reviewed the form we will email you and you may come to the Library and pick up your new card. A charge of $40 will be left on the account until you are able to pay off the fee. Once the fee has been paid you will have full borrowing privileges for a year. Payment can be made by cash or check in person, dropped off in our Book Return, or mailed directly to us at:
