Film Screening: “Back to the Future”

Join us for a film screening and discussion with our movie group: the Merrill Film Society.

If you went back in time and met your parents when they were in High School, would you like them? This is the question the creators of Back to the Future asked themselves and the answer is a resounding: “yikes.”

Robert Zemeckis directs brilliant performances by Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover in this instant classic that expertly blends comedy, science fiction, action-adventure, and ’50s nostalgia. The film went on to huge box office and critical success and spawned two excellent sequels. As a trilogy, the franchise has left an indelible mark on popular culture, cinema history, and Hollywood itself, where both the script and film are used to teach film students the ins and outs of Hollywood storytelling.
