In 2000 the Merrill Memorial Library Arts Committee was formed for the purpose of providing space in the community for exhibiting local artists. The MML Arts Committee encourages and supports the arts by providing free gallery space for local artists to display their work. We feel that this effort not only attracts new patrons to the library, but is also of benefit to the community as a whole to enhance appreciation for the visual arts in a wide variety of media.
Visual artists working in any medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, and textiles are invited to submit work for review. Please contact committee members Cornelia Walworth (846-0697) or Anne Page (846-9562) for more information.
Our lengthy list of artists who have shown their work over the years has grown to include not only artists from Yarmouth but also from surrounding communities and occasionally from Portland. We have an informal and flexible calendar with exhibits lasting a minimum of one month and often six weeks. Our policy and other information is available on request.
The MML Art Gallery is located on the second floor in the Literature Room.
