Prepare for the upcoming solar eclipse with a talk by local scientist, Ed Gleason! This will be Maine’s first total solar eclipse since July 1963. You might think these happen all the time but the eclipse won’t be visible from Maine again until May 1, 2079! That’s fifty-five years from now!
In this talk, Mr. Gleason will discuss the timeline of the event, why eclipses occur? Are they, or aren’t they, a rare sight? And, what can we expect to see? Even though here in Southern Maine the eclipse won’t be total, the event still promises to be spectacular. The April 8th eclipse is expected to be the most watched eclipse in world history! Join us as we prepare for this celestial spectacle.
